This marvelous estate located in the Indian Canyons is aptly named “Arzoo”, which signifies “Heart’s Desire” in Urdu. The villa with three luxuriously appointed bedrooms was designed by the Los Angeles firm of Tichenor & Thorpe and completed in 2007 of Moorish and Moroccan style architecture. From the key-hole doorways, outdoor gas lamp, to the large poolside gazebo, this sanctuary was built to create a mood of reflection and contemplation. Rills of flowing water as inspired by the Alhambra in Spain also add to the tranquility and harmony this villa exudes, while taking in the majestic mountain views and desert landscape.
The interior was designed by Fisher Weisman of San Francisco. A blend of old world décor and new world materials, help inspire the colors and patterns as seen throughout the home, and the furniture selection all while keeping comfort in mind. Solace and relaxation inspired the design elements of this villa, rather than displaying opulent or formal living arrangements. The great room features a spacious seating alcove, marvelously hung lanterns over luxurious yet comfortable seating, and a hand made fireplace surrounds. Some of the additional Moroccan influences are seen in the Indian sandstone selection and marble floors, and the many lanterns use throughout property. An eclectic array of art from the Orient to artist from San Francisco of the 1950’s are also displayed prominently throughout the villa. A showcase cucina reminiscent of an old Mediterranean kitchen featuring modern appliances and plenty of counter space is just off the great room and waiting for culinary creativity. The master suite includes a separate media room with a fireplace showcased in mosaic tiles. The ensuite master bath offers spa qualities and includes dual vanities in luxurious granite, a sunken tub overlooking a private courtyard, step in shower, and outdoor access for showering alfresco for two amidst the desert landscape.
Sitting in the exterior loggia with a roaring fire reflecting on the mountain-scape scenery of the desert enhances any lifestyle. The garden and grounds was designed by landscape architect, John McCoy and enhances the homes prominent architecture. Mature 100 year old olive and pomegranate trees were shipped to the estate from California’s rich San Joaquin Valley soil, creating a feeling of an ancient grove of trees in Marrakesh. Vantage lighting was also used to enhance peaceful mood throughout. The home is completed with modern technologies and amenities including state of art audio, visual, and internet.
