This Mediterranean villa is perched on a mountain overlooking Palm Springs and the California desert. It was designed by architect Charles Tanner and built in 1925 for wealthy oil magnate Thomas O'Donnell, and it remains, elegantly, beautifully, unaltered from its original appearance. Red-tiled roof and stucco walls show off an encircling porch cantilevered above the ground, and a second-story veranda gives views of the valley below.

A steep incline up a rock-faced road reaches the intricately wrought iron gates in which the words "Ojo Del Desierto" (Eye of the Desert) are silhouetted against the sky. Settled on its mountain site, the expansive terrace seems to float above the desert floor. Inside, the meticulously restored O'Donnell House features original and rare-tile floors and bathrooms, redwood ceilings, and antique furniture. Outside are unique gardens, impressive rock work, and palm trees. The O' Donnell House is the perfect setting for corporate meetings, and a special venue for weddings and family gatherings. Unrivaled exclusivity in an historic setting affords the ultimate in privacy.
